We had an amazing day on Bruny Island from start to finish. Our guide Rick was super nice, helpful, and so knowledgable about the island. You can see he loves it so much! All the food was amazing and the tour went exactly as described. I would have liked a bit more walking, but apart from that it was really the complete experience!

This Bruny Island Day Tour from Hobart gets off to an easy and relaxed start, thanks to the convenience of pick-up from selected hotels across the CBD. Once everyone is on board, you’ll travel south-east from the city in comfortable, air-conditioned transport towards Kettering — the departure point for ferries to fabulous Bruny Island.
Your time on the island begins with a walk up to Truganini Lookout at the Neck to take in the sweeping view of the narrow isthmus that joins North and South Bruny. Keep your eyes peeled for the little penguins that inhabit these dunes.
From there, your guide will pick up fresh oysters from Get Shucked, and a selection of cheeses and wood fired sourdough bread from the Bruny Island Cheese Company. Weather permitting, you’ll enjoy this sumptuous morning tea overlooking the beach, or under shelter if needed. It’s a delicious introduction to the island!
The tour continues on to South Bruny National Park — home to the historic Cape Bruny Lighthouse. Marvel at the lighthouse’s backstory and the incredible coastal setting. It must have been a wild and windy life for the lighthouse keepers of old! You’ll enjoy an exclusive guided tour of the lighthouse tower, including the opportunity to walk around the outer balcony and soak up the sublime vistas. Hear tales of shipping tragedy in the surrounding waters and spot the abundant birdlife.
After a full morning of sightseeing, it’s time to relax over lunch at Hotel Bruny. The extensive menu includes locally caught fresh fish, succulent lamb, hearty seafood chowder, and the ever-popular seafood platter for two. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are also available.
Your afternoon will be packed with more scenic highlights and delicious delights, including tastings of chocolate and honey. If time permits, you’ll return to the Bruny Island Cheese Company for the option to purchase a coffee, or enjoy a beer or wine tasting at your own cost. All other tastings throughout the day are included in the tour price.
You’ll arrive back in Hobart at around 4.30pm, with drop-off at your point of departure.
This Bruny Island Day Tour from Hobart is fabulous value, and will ensure you see — and taste — the island’s best!

We had Rick as a tour guide, he has lived on the island for just over 30 years if my memory serves correctly which gave him excellent knowledge of the area including all the businesses, flora and fauna. He made the day fun and exciting with lots of interesting facts and history of things on the island, all in all it was a fantastic day!

Our bus driver was Grant. He was very knowledgeable about the history surrounding the Bruny community and surrounding areas. A very pleasant gentleman and had everything organised for a morning tea, lunch and visits to various sights during the day. The only “negative” was the condition of the bus that was used – old.

Great visit to the whole island in a single day without being too tiring. The fresh oysters, cheese and bread for morning tea at the beach was fantastic.
