If you have a need for speed, or perhaps limited available time, and you’re feeling fighting fit, the Sydney Harbour Bridge Express Climb is for you! The climb takes an initial shortcut that will see you climbing the bridge sooner and at a faster pace with fewer breaks. There are actually less stairs on the express climb (1,002 to be exact), and before you know it you’ll be drinking in those phenomenal views from the summit.
This amazing experience begins at the Sydney Harbour Bridge Visitor Centre, where you’ll be kitted out in your special BridgeSuit and receive a full safety briefing. Latched onto the structure with a safety wire, you’ll set off with your climb leader through the bridge access tunnel and along the catwalk beneath the road deck. Bypassing the standard climb access point at the South East Pylon, you’ll continue on with the harbour below until you reach the base of the bridge’s lower arch on the Opera House side. There you’ll begin your ascent, via a series of stairways and walkways. Along the way you’ll enjoy running commentary from your climb leader through a headset.
On arrival at the peak of the lower arch, you’ll break through to the upper arch by conquering one final set of stairs. After some time to soak up the surrounding grandeur, and for a summit photo opportunity with your group, you’ll cross the spine of the bridge to the Darling Harbour side and begin your descent.
